The Jefferson Parish Council will be asked to vote on the proposal at the January 14, 2009 meeting.

The Jefferson Fire Fighters Association has appealed to incompetent fire administrators, repeatedly, about the challenges that impact fire personnel. Instead of addressing the problems presented, fire administrators have proved unwilling and unable to correct the flawed management of the fire department. It seems that some Council members have been told by Eastbank Consolidated Fire Department administrators that the Jefferson Fire Fighters Association exaggerates when raising issues of concern. There is a Parish attorney, imposed "gag" order in place, that supposedly prevents the Council members from talking about the pending issues with fire pesonnel. There is no court order in effect that prevents the Parish President or the Council from getting the facts about what is really going on with fire personnel. Jefferson Parish's Eastbank Consolidated Fire Department's incompetent administrators repeated violations of applicable law and unfair treatment of fire employees, and were unresponsive, which caused the law suits in question and a written plea to Parish President Broussard and the Council members to assist the fire personnel.
